Invisible Pressed Setting Powder – hit or miss? | The Aimee Effect

When it comes to setting my under eye, I always use my trusty Laura Mercia Translucent Loose Setting Powder, I’ve never loved a powder so much, it prevents creasing, is great to bake with and leaves no flashback.

I came to the end of my pot a few weeks ago but when I went to buy some more they had none in stock!! I didn’t leave empty handed though, the lady on the counter recommended that I tried the Invisible Pressed Setting Powder which was the same price as the other powder.

The Invisible Pressed Setting Powder claims to set makeup for prolonged wear whilst diminishing the look of fine lines and imperfections. It is created for all skin types and skin tones and has special light reflecting satin-spherical particles that create a soft focus effect.

The powder does create a soft focus and fees very smooth and luxurious on the skin, you only need a small amount however, the only down side I have to this product is that it does give flashback. I used this product on my under eye when I went on a night out and on pictures it is very visible. The woman at the counter did mention about the flashback but I thought I would try it anyway and give it a chance.

I wouldn’t personally use this on my under eye again, but what I am going to do is keep this powder as a handbag essential, for those days when I’m a little extra oily in places like my t-zone and cheeks.

All in all, a good product for keeping in your handbag for when you get them oily moments throughout the day but not great for setting under the eyes! Laura Mercia Translucent Loose Setting Powder you win every time ❤️

Holy Grail Foundation | The Aimee Effect

There are hundreds of foundations on the market for us makeup junkies and everybody has their own personal preference. I have many foundations that I use but my go to has got to be the Estée Lauder Double Wear.

This foundation claims to be long-wearing, keeps makeup looking fresh and natural through heat humidity and activity, a lightweight comfortable foundation, doesn’t change colour or smudge and come off on your clothes.

All of the above I do agree with, the only point I feel a little differently on is the foundation coming off on clothing, maybe it’s because I don’t tend to set my whole face with powder but it does transfer onto my clothes ever so slightly.

The coverage of this foundation is one of the best, it’s a medium to full coverage and gives a flawless finish, the foundation is the only makeup product I use from Estée Lauder however I would like to try the matching concealer at some point also.

For 30ml of this product it will cost you £33.50 which I know for some people can be pricey, I do think it is an expensive foundation but it is 100% worth it for me and my skin.

Take the day off review | The Aimee Effect

I used to be one of those girls that always takes her makeup off before bed and always cleansed my skin. Just lately I’ve been getting so lazy, just using a wipe to take off my entire face of makeup or just leaving it on and topping it up in the morning. I KNOW….I know that this is so so so bad for my skin and I did see a change in the way my skin felt and looked, I just couldn’t be bothered to take care of my skin.

As a beauty blogger, I do like to try out different brands and products and I am very late onto the bandwagon with this one but I’ve tried it eventually and I love it.

Clinique take the day off cleansing balm has got to be up there with my favourites, I’ve been using the balm every night for about a week now and I am noticing a huge difference in my skin. From always being a very oily person and I mean oil that I couldn’t seem to control, I’m not saying that this product is a miracle in a tub but my skin is no where near as oily as what it used to be.

The product itself is like a hard oil (a little bit like coconut oil) and you only need a small amount. Be sure to wet your face first, then what I like to do is take a little of the product out with my index finger and rub into my hands, I then box press onto my face and work the product in. To take it off I just simply use a baby’s sponge and warm water. I don’t know if you’re supposed to use this on your eyes as well but I have been using this as a eye makeup remover and it works wonders, no stingy eyes which a lot of products do tend to do. I then follow this with my normal cleanse and moisturise.

The balm retails at £24 which I don’t personally think is too pricy for a product so good. I cannot recommend this enough! I will not be turning back now I’ve tried it and it will be forever one of my go-to’s

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and lovey new year!
